LEBANON, TN (WSMV) –
Lebanon police are investigating a possible murder-suicide on Tuesday at a city park.
The incident happened around 10 a.m. at Don Fox Community Park on Baddour Parkway.
A witness told police he saw an elderly couple swinging together in a quiet part of the park away from most of the activities.
The witness said he saw the man pull out a pistol and shoot his wife in the head. He then got down on the ground beside her and shot himself.
Police said she died at the scene and he died a short while later at the hospital.
Police took down the swing and took it for evidence.
By 12:30 p.m., the park had returned to normal and most people there were not aware of what happened.
Police have not identified the witness or the deceased couple. They are waiting to notify family members.
There are no surveillance cameras in the park.
The Don Fox Community Park hosted Lebanon’s Night Out Against Crime later Tuesday evening.
