NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – An eye-opening revelation came Tuesday in the 2015 Nashville mayoral race.

Before David Fox threw his hat in to the race, he managed a New York-based hedge fund, Titan Advisors.

His brother, George Fox, is listed as the president and founder.

But it appears the elder Fox is still active behind the scene of the race through a citizen Super Political Action Committee (PAC).

The PAC is paying for ads that promote David Fox and, in the case of one mailer, disparage opponent Linda Rebrovick.

“The PACs do what they do and anyone who invests in those PACs knows exactly what they’re going to do, and the voters know that,” Rebrovick told News 2.

Federal law prohibits coordination between candidates Super PACs but regulators, for the most part, are unable to enforce that.

PACs can also raise an unlimited amount of money from donors.

In a statement to News 2, David Fox acknowledges his brother’s involvement, saying, “While some of what the PAC did in its advertising was not exactly what I would have wanted, I do appreciate my brother stepping up and trying to help me. I’m definitely glad it’s out. I feel better just knowing the facts myself.”

Another opponent stated strong words Tuesday night with Megan Barry saying, in part, “You don’t get much more of a conflict of interest than for a candidate’s sibling and business partner to be bankrolling false attacks.”
