Fayetteville pastor charged with statutory rape in Coffee County

MANCHESTER, TN (WSMV) –
A pastor at a Fayetteville church has been accused of raping a teenage girl in the Manchester area.

According to police, Maurice Pugh, 45, of Decherd, used his position of trust as a church pastor to force a girl between the ages of 13 and 18 to have sex with him.

The teen attended the church with her family.

Pugh has been charged with two counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and two counts of aggravated statutory rape after a June indictment issued by the Coffee County grand jury.

He is being held in the Coffee County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
