LEBANON, Tenn. — A father is in jail for allegedly shooting his son to death at a campground in Lebanon.
Police were called to the Timberline Campground at 1204 Murfreesboro Road for a shots fired call just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday where 55-year-old Kirby Dies and his son 37-year-old Joseph Dies live. Officers and medics attempted to revive Joseph after finding him with several gunshot wounds. Doctors at University Medical Center later pronounced him dead.
Kirby is charged with criminal homicide. Police say he shot his son with a small caliber handgun when the two got into an altercation while drinking alcohol.
Kirby went to Summit Hospital for a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his leg. It is unclear when that occurred.
