MADISON, Tenn. (WKRN) – A father was arrested late Monday night in Madison after reportedly drinking and driving with his two toddlers in the car and leaving them alone on the side of the Interstate when he ran out of gas.

According to an affidavit, officers got a call about Frank Rouse standing near a car on Interstate 65 at Old Hickory Boulevard around 11:50 p.m. and stepping into traffic as he tried to wave down vehicles.

When police arrived they found Rouse’s 3-year-old twins asleep in the back seat, the report stated.

He claimed he ran out of gas and left them in the car because he didn’t want to wake them up. Additionally, he reportedly admitted to having a few drinks earlier in the evening.

Police were able to contact the children’s mother and they were put in her care.

Police said Rouse, 33, was driving on a revoked license due to being convicted of driving under the influence in 2010.

He was charged with DUI again, violation of implied consent, reckless endangerment and driving on a revoked license. His bond was set at 35,000.
