PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – The body of a 27-year-old Tennessee Tech University student was discovered at Burgess Falls State Park Sunday.

Lamouki Aref Motamedi’s remains were discovered by a visitor at the park who was looking down at the falls.

Park rangers were immediately notified.

According to a release, the preliminary investigation shows that Motamedi had been viewing the falls from the top before slipping and falling.

Officials said it appears Motamedi was alone when the accident occurred and that the falls observation deck was closed for repairs after being damaged by storms.

The area was fenced off and signs were posted in the area prohibiting access to the observation deck.

It was not immediately known when Motamedi arrived to the park.

Additional information was not released.
