NASHVILLE, Tenn. — As of Sunday, the White House was not able to provide any information on the record to explain why the American flag was not lowered to half-staff to mourn the loss of five servicemen killed in an ambush attack last week in Chattanooga.
In the past President Obama has signed proclamations ordering the flag to be lowered at all federal buildings in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre, the Colorado theater shooting, the Boston bombing, and the Navy Yard Shooting.
Last month on Capitol Hill, officials lit the White House in rainbow colors after the Supreme Court ruled in favor to legalize gay marriage. This all comes as Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam extended his order to keep the flags lowered through this week to honor the five shooting victims.
