Congress is shaming the Department of Veterans Affairs for hiding a $2.5 billion dollar budget shortfall. If lawmakers don’t vote to close the financial gap some VA hospitals could be in danger of closing.

In Nashville, VA patients and employees are dealing with an entirely different set of problems. The hospital broke ground and construction is underway for a brand new specialty care clinic. The new site will be in a patient parking lot.

Some veterans were surprised to see the parking lot gone and were forced to park down the street. It’s becoming problematic to disabled veterans and those in need of wheelchairs. Some patients tell FOX17 they’ve missed appointments because they couldn’t find parking.
A spokeswoman for the Nashville VA Hospital says she’s working to inform everyone on the changes. The hospital offers an ambassador escort service to help patients get around.

The VA new specialty care clinic is set to open next year.
