Search continues for man wanted after shooting Putnam Co. officer

BURKESVILLE, Ky. (WKRN) – A Kentucky standoff with a man accused of shooting a police officer during a Saturday traffic stop in Putnam County, Tennessee is over according to Kentucky State Police.

Officers were searching for Floyd Cook, who is also wanted for felony warrants out of Kentucky and is considered armed and dangerous.

He’s accused of shooting an Algood police officer Saturday afternoon. The officer, Ahscari Valencia, was treated and released from the hospital.

State police told News 2 a standoff on Dulworth Road in Burkesville, Kentucky ended, but Cook was not inside the home. He is still on the run as of Monday morning.

Burkesville is about 90 miles northeast of Nashville.

If you see Cook’s vehicle, police are urging you to not approach but to call the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office at 931-528-8484.
