NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) –
An active-duty airman says thieves stole his family’s moving truck while they were staying in Nashville this week.Senior Master Sgt. Benjamin Schaub said he had parked a Penske moving truck and his car outside a Holiday Inn Express near the airport on Wednesday. He and his family were in the process of moving from San Antonio to the Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts.

Penske ID number is 9262961“Everything we’ve ever had collected since we’ve been married was inside that truck,” Schaub told Channel 4. “We parked it for the evening, locked it up, then went to bed, woke up the next morning, and it was gone.”

Schaub said the vehicles contained their clothes, furniture, and everything they owned.

“My gut dropped,” he said. “It was disbelief at first.”

Schaub, his wife, and his son had no choice but to continue with their journey. Schaub said they left town lugging their only remaining possessions: three suitcases. The airman said he can part with the sofas but not with the memories.

“The photos and things we collected are the things we’re looking for most of all,” he said.

Schaub said someone found the Volvo several miles from the airport, empty and vandalized. The father wanted to share his story in hopes someone would spot the 26-foot truck.

The Penske ID number is 9262961. If you have any information, please contact Metro Police.

The family has also set up a GoFundMe page to recover the cost of the stolen belongings.
