BREAKING: Floyd Ray Cook dead after Shootout with Police in Kentucky

UPDATE:
CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Ky.—–Kentucky State Police confirm that Floyd Ray Cook is dead.

Officers say they found Cook in an embankment around 12:21 a.m. near a home on KY 61, which is seven miles south of Burkesville, KY..

Two KSP troopers and one U.S. Marshall found cook in the embankment, and they say he was armed.

Officers say Cook challenged them and did not comply when they asked him to put his weapon down.

Gunfire was exchanged and Cook was fatally wounded.

Paramedics responded but Cook was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cumberland County Coroner.

No officers were injured in the incident.

PREVIOUS:
BURKESVILLE, Ky. — The pursuit of fugitive Floyd Ray Cook turned back to Kentucky tonight after police agencies focused their efforts in Tennessee last night capturing two people known to have been with Cook.

As of 10 p.m. Thursday, the search is suspended after relying on thermal cameras from helicopters tonight. However, police believe they are hot on

Cook’s trail after residents in the area tell police that Cook confronted them asking for a ride.

Cook remains elusive and is still at large. Burkesville residents are urged to stay inside and keep doors locked.
