Eight twisters touched down in Middle Tennessee in July, and one in East Tennessee. It’s the most to ever hit the Volunteer State in the month of July since the National Weather Service began official weather keeping in 1916.
The strongest tornado so far in July, an EF1, hit three miles west of Cookeville. It was reported by a trained weather spotter.
