AUSTIN, Minn. (KIMT) — Hormel is recalling some jars of Skippy peanut butter shipped to southern and eastern states.

The recall covers 153 cases of a single code date of Skippy Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread.

Hormel says the 1,871 pounds of peanut butter may contain small pieces of metal shavings.

Jars affected weigh 16.3 ounces, have a “Best If Used By Date” of DEC1416LR1 and a UPC Code of 37600-10500.

The company says the recalled jars were shipped to distribution centers for Publix, Target and Walmart in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

Consumers can return the peanut butter to the store where it was purchased or call Hormel Foods Public Relations at 1-866-475-4779.
