Officer shot in Putnam county, police searching for suspect

PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Putnam County Justice Center is asking for help on finding a man in connection to the shooting of an Algood police officer.

Floyd Cook is driving a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck with Kentucky tags and a blue University of Kentucky Wildcat license plate on the front of the car.

Putnam County police believe Cook was later in a shoot out with officials in Cumberland County, Kentucky before escaping.

The Algood officer was shot during a traffic stop Saturday afternoon. His condition was not released.

According to police, Cook is wanted for felony warrants out of Kentucky and is considered armed and dangerous.

If you see Cook’s vehicle, police are urging you to not approach, but call the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office at 931-528-8484.
